What is the Major Difference Between Laser and Vaser Liposuction?

Introduction

In this era of changing lifestyle and fashion one of the leading concerns of an individual is their body shape and size. Healthy diet and ample exercise are the most important tools that may provide one with their desired body size and shape. Although exercise may ensure perfect body size, body shape may still be a concern. Stubborn fats may get accumulated at certain areas of the body which may not be sorted out through exercise. Such fats are typically due to genetics and are very difficult to get rid of even through rigorous diet and exercise.

Liposuction surgeries are best suited to treat such stubborn body fats and give you a balanced and toned body. Liposuction is a cosmetic surgery that enables you the desired body shape and contour. Although liposuction targets body fat, it is not a weight loss treatment.

With advancement in technology, various liposuction techniques have been developed. These advanced techniques have made the procedure highly safe and comfortable. Two of the leading liposuction surgeries are vaser liposuction and laser liposuction.

Vaser liposuction

Vaser liposuction or liposelection is a liposuction technique that uses ultrasound waves to loosen and remove the fat pockets. This technique is not as aggressive as the tradition liposuction and hence the recovery time is quite less.

During the procedure, a tumescent liquid is injected to the area to be treated. Tumescent liquid is a mixture of saline solution and anesthetics. Small incisions are made at the targeted area and ultrasound probes are inserted through them. These probes emit ultrasound waves that are converted to vibrations and helps loosen the fat cells. The fat cells get emulsified by the tumescent liquid and taken out through a narrow tube called cannula. The small amount of anesthetic that remains in the tissues helps reduce the pain due to the surgery.

Laser liposuction

Laser liposuction uses laser energy to break down the fat cells. Laser liposuction is also known for coagulating the tissues surrounding the treated area thus increasing collagen production resulting in a firmer, toned and younger looking skin.

During the procedure, tiny incisions are made at the target area and laser probes are inserted through them. Powerful laser energy melts down the accumulated fat without causing harm to surrounding tissues and blood vessels.

Difference between vaser and laser liposuction

 Targeted areas: Vaser liposuction is considered suitable for larger areas as compared to the laser liposuction. Vaser liposuction target areas such as thighs, knees, abdomen, and back. Whereas, laser liposuction is more suitable for areas such as face neck and chin.
 Type of anesthetics: Tumescent liquid used for vaser liposuction consists of a mixture of saline solution and anesthetics. This tumescent liquid not only relieves the surgery pain but also acts as an emulsifier for the treated fat cells. However, laser liposuction is performed on small areas and thus local anesthesia suffices the requirement. No tumescent liquid is required for laser liposuction.
 Procedure: Laser liposuction requires smaller incisions compared to the vaser liposuction. The incisions made for vaser liposuction help in inserting the ultrasound probes as well as make way for cannula which is a narrow tube through which the emulsified fat is taken out of the body. Incisions for laser liposuction are used for inserting the laser probes.
 Technique used: Vaser liposuction uses ultrasound waves whereas laser liposuction uses laser waves to melt down the fats.
 Recovery: Due to smaller incisions the recovery time of laser liposuction is a bit shorter compared to vaser liposuction. However, the difference is very less.
 Cost: Benefits of vaser liposuction are almost similar to laser liposuction. However, cost of vaser liposuction in India is slightly lower compared to laser liposuction in India.

Is vaser and laser liposuction safe?

These liposuctions are highly safe and comfortable. However, risks like infection and bleeding do exist.
Laser liposuction exposes intense heat focused on one point which may lead to burns and uneven final results. Such burns may leave permanent scars.
