Botox and Dermal Fillers
ALC Studio offers a number of non-surgical injectable treatments that can reduce signs of aging in the face for a more youthful and refreshed appearance. With BOTOX® Cosmetic and a number of dermal filler options, our experienced cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Sunil Arora, can reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, as well as add volume to facial features such as the lips and cheeks. Many of our cosmetic injectable procedures can be performed in about 30 minutes or less, and there is typically no downtime necessary after treatment.
BOTOX® Cosmetic is one of the most popular anti ageing treatments available. This innovative procedure is designed to diminish facial creases, frown lines, crow’s feet, and other signs of age. BOTOX® Cosmetic is derived from a purified form of botulinum toxin type A.
The solution works to prevent muscles from contracting in the areas targeted for treatment. This muscle contraction is what often causes wrinkles to appear. Injections are made with a very fine needle in the target areas, and a numbing agent can be applied to minimize discomfort during the procedure.
Patients should be able to resume normal daily activities immediately. While there may be some redness and swelling around the injection sites after treatment, this should dissipate within a few hours. Results from BOTOX® Cosmetic often last for four months and can be maintained with follow-up treatments.
BOTOX® can also be used to reduce excessive sweating ( hyperhidrosis ) in targeted body areas. The effect of BOTOX® used for excess sweating typically lasts 6 months.
Injectable Dermal Fillers
Injectable dermal fillers can help you reduce signs of ageing and add volume and new definition to facial features. With popular options such as JUVÉDERM®, Radiesse®, Restylane®, and Belotero, ALC Studio can fill in deep wrinkles, smooth out lines and creases between the nose and mouth ( nasolabial folds), and renew contours in the lips, cheeks, and other areas.
Many of our dermal filler options are composed of hyaluronic acid, a substance that occurs naturally in the human body, and do not require an allergy test. These anti-aging treatments involve an injection of the dermal filler into the areas targeted for rejuvenation.
A local anesthetic can be applied to these areas so you are as comfortable as possible during the procedure. Most treatments last only about 30 minutes, and patients can typically resume their daily routines immediately.
Results from dermal fillers will vary depending on which type of filler you receive; however, many of the dermal fillers we use at our practice have very long-lasting effects – six months to a year in some cases. Plus, you can keep the effects going with occasional “touch-up” treatments.
Ablative and Non-Ablative Skin Resurfacing
Skin resurfacing procedures use lasers to reduce the signs of aging and improve skin texture, laxity, and tone. They are also used for scar and stretch mark reduction as well as for treatment of a variety of other cosmetic concerns.
Skin resurfacing can be achieved with either ablative or non-ablative lasers. Ablative resurfacing removes thin layers of the skin and is ideal for patients seeking a dramatic improvement in a single session.
On the other hand, non-ablative resurfacing keeps the skin intact, stimulates collagen growth and tightens the underlying skin. It is ideal for patients who prefer a milder treatment approach with less downtime and no risk of skin infection.
Both types of skin resurfacing treatments involve the use of the Lumenis Solution.
Lumenis Solution for Ablative Skin Resurfacing
The Lumenis CO2 ablative technologies enable a high rate of improvement skin damage, skin tone without complications and a minimal downtime. This is due to their unique pulse technologies and tailored treatment modes. The ablative technologies are available in the UltraPulse™ and AcuPulse™ products.
There are several advantages of Lumenis CO2 ablative technology:
Optimal results and treatment control with Lumenis’ UltraPulse and SuperPulse unique short pulse technologies that allow for the best ablation/coagulation ratio.

When you look in the mirror is your skin as soft and fresh as you want it to be? With an exciting technique called PowerPeel microdermabrasion dead and flaking skin cells are removed to create an immediate improvement in your skin’s appearance.
This unique approach stimulates the production of fresh young skin cells and collagen. It is the ultimate advancement in non-surgical, non-laser and non-invasive skin conditioning.
PowerPeel Microdermabrasion treatments are gentle and take very little time, “the lunch time treatment”, making them popular for today’s busy person.
This mild, but effective, treatment reduces the appearance of fine lines, crow’s feet, stretch marks and other signs of ageing. It is also effective in the treatment of sun damage, superficial scars, uneven skin tone helps to clear blocked pores, which is associated with active acne and acne scarring.
What is microdermabrasion?
PowerPeel Microdermabrasion is a comprehensive approach to skin care that is non-surgical, safe and effective anti aging treatment. The treatment delivers a controlled stream of inert crystals through a disposable sterilized handpiece, which gently and precisely exfoliates the surface of your skin. Treatments effectively “whisk away” years of dull build up revealing smoother and fresher skin.
What results can you expect?
Regardless of your skin’s condition, most patients will notice an improvement in their skin’s appearance. It must be noted that for optimum results a series of weekly treatments should be undertaken with monthly treatments following your initial series. Many patients report their skin looks and feels softer, smoother and younger. Fine lines, age spots and acne scars will be less obvious.
What is the treatment like?
PowerPeel Microdermabrasion can be thought of as a mild form of sandblasting for effective exfoliation of the skin surface. The treatment consists of very fine particles of aluminum oxide blown at the skin under pressure and then immediately vacuumed back up along with the dead skin cells.
The degree of suction can be altered to allow treatments to be given quite close to the more sensitive under eye area as well as to other areas of the body. Treatments are relaxing and enjoyable.
First, your skin will be cleansed and prepared with a gentle cleanser. The treatment itself will feel like a delicate, exfoliating scrub brush over the surface of your skin. Some patients describe the treatment as a “cat licking your face”.
Following this anti aging treatment, your skin will be treated with specially selected products designed to soothe and moisturize. The entire process takes about 20-30 minutes. Immediately after treatment, your skin will not only look healthier but also feel smoother and softer.
Do I have to follow an aftercare regime?
Maintaining the health of your skin requires daily care. Regular cleansing and moisturizing with specially selected products will help keep your skin fresh, toned and well hydrated. Daily protection from the sun is essential.
Who is ideal for microdermabrasion?
It is ideal for men and women who cannot afford to take off time for healing from chemical peels or laser treatment or who don’t want to put off outdoor or social activities. It is also ideal for people with skin that is sensitive to chemicals or make-up or acne prone skin that has not responded well to acne remedies.
It is also ideal for younger people with early skin changes who wish for softer, smoother skin. Moreover, PowerPeel microdermabrasion can be used on any skin color.
What are the benefits of microdermabrasion?
- As mentioned before recovery time takes less. It is the “lunch time treatment”. This can also be useful if you have a social event that you want to look good for the next day.
- Treatment sessions take less time. Discomfort is minimal. Normal activities can be resumed immediately. Finally, treatments are affordable and safe for all skin types and colors.
- PowerPeel Microdermabrasion is a very useful treatment in its own right, helping clear blocked pores, increasing blood circulation is to the surface of the skin and reducing skin thickness.
- It is especially useful in the treatment of active acne where blocked pores and congested skin are associated with bacterial infection.
- It also improves the effectiveness of other treatments, such as the Nlite laser, Environ Vitamin treatments, and skincare products.
Non-Surgical Face Lift
Non-Surgical Face lift involves many skin tightening procedures. Out of these, two proprietary procedures Thermage and Titan are the most popular techniques.
While these two treatments utilize different proprietary technology, the idea is essentially the same, in that they both aim to heat the deeper layer of the skin (the dermis) in order to effect a “healing response”.
This healing response encourages increased collagen production and remodeling of existing collagen. Supportive underlying tissues of the skin contract, resulting in a tighter, more uplifted appearance to the skin.
Although it is too soon to have evidence of what the long-term effects may be, both treatments have been used with success on the face and areas of the body. Some of the most dramatic results have been seen in the area of the neck and jaw line.
However, these anti aging treatments are also showing some promising results on the sagging skin on the abdomen, upper arms, butt, and thighs, and seem to offer some help with diminishing the appearance of cellulite as well.
Unlike with ablative lasers or chemical peels, there is no peeling of the top layer of skin, and therefore the procedures are more suitable for patients with darker skin tones, because of the significantly lowered risk of pigmentation changes.
The cost is also considerably less than the surgical facelift, and because the procedure is non-invasive (no cutting) there is usually no need to take time off from work.
Risks, Recovery & Downtime
- Pain management is hardly an issue, as some of these procedures require the use of local anesthetic and/or over-the-counter pain killers while some use nothing at all. All incorporate some sort of means of cooling the skin during the treatment.
- For most patients, there is no downtime, although a few people may have excessive swelling or redness, or even temporary skin blanching (whiteness) immediately following a treatment.
- More serious risks include bumps, blistering, permanent pigmentation changes, or skin depressions, although these are rare. Extremely rare incidents of scarring or infection have been reported.
A thread lift is a fairly recent cosmetic surgery technique that is designed for individuals who would like a little “pick me up” but are not necessarily ready to commit to a full facelift.
In addition, thread lifts are less invasive, cost less, and achieve optimal results with minimal downtime. In some locations, cosmetic and plastic surgeons today call a thread lift the “weekend facelift” because it can be performed in generally about an hour.
One of the most beneficial aspects of thread lift plastic surgery is that plastic surgeons are able to achieve superlative results through less invasive techniques than ever before. Thread lifts involve the use of sutures that are barbed on one end.
They are able to literally lift various aspects of facial features to achieve a smoother more toned appearance. The most common areas thread lifts are utilized are on eyelids and eyebrows, sagging necklines, and the crease between the nose and the mouth that deepens with age.
The two most commonly practiced thread lift techniques used today include open technique and closed technique.
Subcutaneous tissues are lifted with the barbed end of these threads, which are then adhered to stable structures and underlying facial tissues. A closed technique involves no incisions and requires a plastic surgeon to carefully form or mold soft facial tissues over the suture’s surface at various points to achieve optimal results.
Open techniques of thread lift procedures involve a very small incision through which a surgeon inserts instruments to create a surface beneath the skin layers to which sutures can be adhered.
Both techniques can be used during either thread lift procedure and the number of threads used with either technique can range from a few to a couple dozen.
Who Benefits from Thread Lift Plastic Surgery?
Anyone who is dissatisfied with a weak jaw line, sagging jowls, drooping eyebrows or eyelids may benefit from thread lift plastic surgical procedures. This type of plastic surgery is most effective for individuals who just need a minimal “lift” procedure and those between the ages of 35 and 50.
Eyebrows, eyelids, the folds between the eyebrows, as well as the folds found between the nose and the mouth, neck lines, and chin lines are the most common locations for this type of procedure, for which results are very effective and beneficial.
